Write Research Papers, Don’t Limit Yourself: Adityanath to UP Doctors
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday advised doctors in the state to write research papers and get them published and not just treat patients. He said King George Medical University (KGMU) needed to move with the times.
Adityanath inaugurated the Department of Vascular and Thoracic Surgery at KGMU and also launched Asia’s first ‘Pathogen Reduction Machine’.
“Some KGMU teachers have been recognized across the world as good scientists, but we still need to do a lot more,” Adityanath said.
“When we talk about appointing doctors from existing medical schools as teachers in newly established medical schools, the NMC (National Medical Commission) says they have no objection, but the problem is that ‘She didn’t write a single research paper,’ Adityanath added. .
If we are unable to write research papers, there will be no progress towards patenting, the chief minister asserted.
“There is no shortage of patients at KGMU, but where are the research papers and publications? We have to make it part of our daily routine and if we don’t commit to it, it will hamper our progress,” Adityanath said.
“Let’s also make writing a habit. Do not limit yourself to treatment. New research papers should come from KGMU, on behalf of each faculty member, and on behalf of each department, we should give our publications. All departments here should have articles published in international journals,” Adityanath said.
“KGMU has come a long way. Five years ago, KGMU completed its 100-year journey, which is a milestone for any institution. During these 100 years, many advances have been made in many areas of medical science,” he said.
