University rises in higher education ranking – Newsroom
Montclair State University’s reputation is growing, and major higher education rankings are taking note.
Montclair received two top 100 rankings – including No. 7 worldwide in a critical research measure – in US News and World Reportthe 2022 ranking of the “Best Global Universities” which highlights 2,000 institutions worldwide.
The American News The rankings highlight the University’s growing research footprint and global impact. Montclair ranks #7 in the world for “normalized citation impact” (the average number of times a research paper is cited in other work – a key measure of research impact) and #93 in the percentage of articles that are among the top 1% cited in their respective fields. Overall, the University moved up 159 places to rank 1,008 in the 2022 rankings.
Montclair was also ranked No. 90 in the country among more than 1,500 institutions in The Washington Monthly 2022 “College Guide and Rankings,” which highlights institutions demonstrating excellence in social mobility, research, and community and national service. The University is one of only four public institutions in New Jersey to appear in the Top 100 of the National University Rankings.
